About M.A.R.S
Introduction
Merseyside Amateur Radio Society (M.A.R.S.) is a friendly group of people of all ages and from all walks of life who share a common interest in Amateur Radio. Membership is open to anyone who has an interest in Amateur Radio and related communication technologies.
Many of our members are licensed Radio Amateurs and operate their own amateur radio stations. We meet on the on the first Monday of each month (except Bank Holidays), from 07:30 pm to 10:00 pm at Mel Inn Social Club, to run open forums, discussions and presentations. Alan (G4NXG)
Secretary
Alan was introduced to Amateur Radio, over sixty years ago, in 1960, by his secondary school science teacher G3ABG and became a keen Short-Wave Listener. After passing the City and Guilds Radio Amateur Examination (R.A.E.) during 1969, he was initially licenced in 1981 as G6AJB (the suffix being his initials) then after taking the Post Office Morse Test, became G4NXG in 1982. His main interest is mobile HF DX chasing with all of the current 340 DXCC entities being worked to gain DXCC #1 Honor Roll status.
Ian (G4BDS)
Treasurer
Ian started his journey into amateur radio in the Falkland Islands, where he held the callsign VP8 DMA. He returned to the UK and took his Foundation exam in December 2018, becoming a Full Licence holder in July 2019.
Nathan (M7NDN)
Media Manager
After scanning the bands for around 5 years and being interested in amateur radio from a young age, Nathan passed the foundation exam in 2026.
